About the event
Stockholm Chamber Brass present a beautiful mix of music from our time and from the past. The main work of the concert is Lingua Ignota – Hildegard von Bingen’s unknown language. Hildegard von Bingen created her own language to praise life and the world. Her writings on nature and medicine were written in Latin, as were her visionary texts and the words to her own compositions. But she also invented a whole new language, with over a thousand new words. Perhaps they were her secret keys to transcending the boundaries of earthly life? But the words are not lofty or otherworldly; on the contrary, they belong to life in its entirety, bodily and materially, such as Nascuzirz (nostril), Scauril (stomach) and Fluanz (urine). The texts about and around Hildegard von Bingen will be read by Greta Andersberg.
